How Do You Market?

learn more about gift baskets at a trade show seminarAfter speaking about public relations and marketing at a garden industry conference yesterday, I began thinking about the questions asked by retailers who are searching for methods to effectively mix online and offline marketing.

I’ve also spoken with some of you who have been very successful at combining the two efforts.

Some of what’s working to bring customers to traditional stores and Web sites are:

  • Postcards that include coupons for free or discounted merchandise. The postcard is brought to the store in exchange for the product.
  • Web site or blog-only offers. This helps to build traffic on the site and also within a traditional store if one exists.
  • VIP events held within the store or at another facility.
  • Many of the options I suggest are included in 101 Ways to Market Gift Baskets. Some retailers have big budgets, and others work on a shoestring model that still encourages purchasing.

Which is the better method for you to convince clients to buy – in-store tactics or direct marketing contact?
